How to Create An AI Agent for Your WhatsApp Business

We’re excited to announce a brand new way to connect with your customers: you can now link your AI agent directly to your WhatsApp Business account!

Until now, your AI agent could only answer phone calls or website chats. With this new WhatsApp channel, your agent can seamlessly handle conversations on one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get started:

Why Connect WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is where your customers already are. By connecting your AI agent to WhatsApp Business, you can:

  • Instantly respond to customer inquiries 24/7
  • Automate common questions and tasks
  • Provide a familiar, convenient experience for your audience

Creating an AI Agent

  1. Navigate to Create an Agent  in your portal and fill in the agent’s name, language, and time zone.
  2. (Optional) Add your business website for smarter responses.
  3. Click Create AI Agent.
  4. Your agent is now ready to connect to WhatsApp and other channels.

How to Connect Your WhatsApp Business Account

1. Go to the WhatsApp Channel in Your Portal

  • Log in to your dashboard.
  • Navigate to your agent’s settings.
  • Click on the Deployment section and select WhatsApp Business.

2. Start the Connection Process

  • If you haven’t connected a WhatsApp account yet, you’ll see a card titled WhatsApp Bot Connection.
  • Click the Continue with WhatsApp button. This will redirect you to WhatsApp’s secure authorization page.

Tip: You’ll need your Facebook and WhatsApp Business account credentials handy.

3. Authorize and Complete Setup

  • Follow the prompts on WhatsApp’s authorization page to grant access.
  • Once authorized, you’ll be redirected back to your dashboard.

4. See Your Connected Accounts

  • After connecting, your WhatsApp Business number will appear in the Connected Account section.
  • You’ll see the phone number, its status (Active or Registration Pending), and an option to disconnect if needed.

  • Active Status: Once your number is registered, it will show as Active with a green indicator.
  • Registration Pending: If setup isn’t complete, you’ll see a Registration Pending status. Follow any additional prompts to finish.
  • Disconnect: Want to remove a number? Click Disconnect and confirm your choice.

Once connected, your AI agent will be able to:

  • Receive and respond to WhatsApp messages from your customers
  • Use the same intelligence and workflows as on calls or web chat
  • Help you deliver fast, consistent support right inside WhatsApp
